Capability Policy overview

This policy provides a clear process to support and manage employees who are required to improve their knowledge, skills or ability to perform their role. It does not apply when the professional competence of medical and dental staff is being reviewed.

Who does this apply to?

The Capability Policy applies to all employees with the exception of medical and some dental staff, other than when a doctor or dentist has had their registration suspended by the regulator as the result of an interim orders panel (IOP), in which case the suspension of registration provisions will apply. It also applies to workers i.e. bank, agency and sessional workers.
